The singer talks about selling music on the Web, his granddaughter Jessica Corbin, online activism, heavy metal, and more,

Crooner Pat Boone has gone online. Second only to Elvis Presley in 1950s record sales and notorious for breaking with his usual style by releasing an album of heavy metal covers -- done with a big band, of course -- Boone has recently set up his own online record label, PatsGold.com.

At the site you can buy classic and recent albums by music legends. As you'll see on the show tonight, Boone has a lot to say about starting an online record label, how music has evolved along with technological change, and much more.

Not all of Martin Sargent's interview with Boone could make it on the show, but you can see the whole thing here. Just click on the clips in the Video Highlights section to see Boone speak on the following points:

  • His first big break
  • How technology has made it possible for individuals to make and record entire albums at home
  • How he started his new label in "anger and optimism" as a rebellion against the big labels that have dropped legendary stars
  • How he had to name his site PatsGold.com because the site name he originally wanted led to a porn site
  • The importance of online activism -- specifically his support for USblooddonors.org, which allows people to register their blood type and address online so they can be available to donate locally if needed
  • His granddaughter and dearly missed ex-Screen Saver Jessica Corbin and her brother, Ryan
  • Getting himself and his family interested in the Web
  • Putting MP3s of his songs online
  • His heavy metal album and the strong reaction to it
  • His friendship with golfing buddy Alice Cooper
  • And much more
