Keep your desktop organized.

We can't give you tips for keeping your workspace clean, but we can help you clean up your computer's desktop. Today I have a way to keep it free of clutter; the only thing you need to do is drop your drawers.

Drop Drawers is a $20 shareware program that plants tabs along the left and right side of your screen. Mouse over a tab without clicking it to make it pop open and reveal its contents.

You can use the tabs for storing documents, links, email addresses, shortcuts to your favorite applications, and folders of goodies you need to keep close by. To add an item, drag and drop it into a drawer.

If you decide you want to change the appearance of your drawers, control-click the open drawer. This will reveal the contextual menu of options, where you can easily change the drawer's colors and transparency level when expanded and collapsed.
